The Gates Millennium Scholarship Program provides scholarships to undergraduate students and graduate students with financial need.

General requirements:

• You must be Hispanic, African American, American Indian/Alaska native or Asian Pacific Islander.
• You must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident of the U.S.
• You must have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA or have earned a GED.
• You will enroll for the first time at a U.S. accredited college or university as a full-time degree-seeking student.
• You have demonstrated leadership abilities.
• You are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant program.

The Hispanic College Fund scholarships are divided by programs of study/majors. Scholarships are also available for single parents and Puerto Rican students.

General requirements:

• You should have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
• You must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident living in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.
• You must plan to enroll as a full-time undergraduate student in the U.S. or Puerto Rico from Fall 2010 to Spring 2011.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund is the nation’s largest provider of college scholarships for Latino students. It offers scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as students transferring from a community college. 

General requirements:

• You should have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• You must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• You must be pursuing or planning to pursue your first undergraduate or graduate degree.
• You must be enrolled or plan to enroll full-time in a degree program at a U.S. accredited institution in the U.S. or U.S. territories.
• You need to apply for financial aid.

Amount: $1,000 to $5,000

The Western Union Foundation Family Scholarship helps two members of the same family improve their quality of life through education. You can use this scholarship money to pay tuition for:

• Language acquisition
• Technical/vocational skill acquisition
• Secondary/high school/GED completion
• University/college study
• Financial literacy/money management classes

Each family member can participate in a different program.

General requirements:

• Both applicants must be 18 or older.
• At least one of the applicants must have been born outside the U.S.
• The funds can only be used to participate in programs offered by nonprofit schools and institutions within the U.S. The scholarship funds are paid directly to the educational provider.
• This scholarship program is particularly interested in helping families that have faced barriers in pursuing their education and that are involved in the community.

Amount: $1,000-$5,000 per family
